Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort seeks to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“It occupies a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of music creators. The single showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the campaign have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The reality in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions won't make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
