England Bowling Consultant Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's last Test match for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi seamer is expected to be present for the first Test because of his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which starts on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Commenting as England's team for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was announced, he said of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
England pace icon Broad had declared the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which starts on 21 November.
"In my view there's at any time a bad Aussie side," he said.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. I think the quality of [England's] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, prior to England travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
