Far-Right Former Legislator José Antonio Kast Voted In as Chile Incoming Leader.
After a definitive final ballot, ultra-conservative figure José Antonio Kast has won the top job in Chile.
A Resounding Triumph
With over 99% of ballots counted, Kast won 58.17% of the ballots, defeating leftist contender Jeannette Jara, who earned 41.83%.
This signifies Kast's third presidency, having previously been defeated by the sitting president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
Agenda Built On Security and Migration
Known for his unwavering Catholic views and praise for the period of dictator Augusto Pinochet, Kast's campaign was largely centered on promises to tackle rising crime and significantly reduce migration.
