Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
