In Such Poor Health Walking Was Impossible As a Stranger Virtually Carried Me to the Toilets.

Back when I was nineteenth year, my regular journey to work involved an packed public transport. The vehicle was always full and was consistently without any seats by the time I got on.

One particular morning, I started experiencing quite nauseous while the vehicle swayed around the bends. I continuously reassured myself to persevere another few kilometres before the bus arrived at my destination, so I could then sprint quickly toward the most convenient public toilet to be sick.

The bus was approaching the avenue close to my stop and it dawned on me I wasn’t going to make it. All of a sudden, it was like a veil came over me. The world became white and really quiet; similar to when one cut the sound. I thought, “I will lose consciousness”.

Luckily I was near the front inside the vehicle, allowing me to take a few steps toward the driver and told the operator to stop, informing him I was going to be sick. He promptly opened the entrance and I hurriedly stepped out onto the street.

I was determined to not get sick in view of multiple lanes of cars, so I gathered myself and started trying to stumble across to the park opposite the street, where I believed I could at least secretly conceal myself near some foliage to be sick. However I likely blacked out. I sensed my physical self, yet I couldn’t walk or see properly, so I started inching my way to the grassy area.

“Everything alright, love?”

At that moment, someone picked me up. I felt a strong arm supporting me and a stranger inquired, “You right, love?” I explained to this mysterious stranger that I required to vomit. Therefore, he almost helped me walk over to an adjacent building and guided me inside the women’s restroom. He asked me if I wanted him to remain with me but I refused.

A few minutes later, I had recovered enough to sit on the toilet when from beyond the stall I heard his voice asking, “Are you feeling better, dear? Is there anything you require?” I wasn’t able to stand up at that moment but I did succeed to say thank you and following a brief period regained the function of my legs. I got myself home passing the next few days getting over what turned out to be a nasty tummy bug.

I never saw the stranger’s face – just his lower half and the big steelwork tools container he held – but he helped me, when I was in my weakest state.

Frequently, society tends to make people defensive, aggressive and competitive. What he did was the kind of action that reverses that hardening of the heart. He served as evidence that people’s natural inclination is to be kind, a quality I adore about my fellow humans.
