Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Plumes of black smoke were seen rising above an area close to the central command of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
