Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is an option. Klopp, post a game-changing near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

The club claimed the Premier League last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he explained to the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach any other side in England. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, so I could make the decision down the line, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to tempt his return to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing in the rain through long matches; I'm glad to skip interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad talking freely, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle vividly recalled as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended for his successor, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the notion that it might signal a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, and its impact for the team. Jota was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling recently.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for the entire squad also. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it as an excuse but it is the situation. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
