Person Who Reached For Ariana Grande at Movie Premiere Barred from Singapore
An Australian man that leaped over a barricade and touched celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and barred from Singapore.
Johnson Wen, twenty-six, was sentenced to more than a week in detention for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities informed Singaporean press.
The man shoved past photographers and rushed toward the actress and singer, who was participating in the Asian debut for the film on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.
The individual has a record of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.
The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.
The celebrity has mentioned suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a explosive incident at her concert in the UK city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.
In the legal process, the authorities learned he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere multiple times, according to regional reports.
He then made a second attempt to breach security. Security staff stopped him and held him in place.
The man subsequently shared videos expressing gratitude to the star for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."
Authorities detained him the subsequent day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.
The District Judge the judicial official was cited by a news outlet as remarking that the man sought attention, adding that he was incorrect to believe he would not suffer any consequences.
Grande has not spoken about the situation.
The co-star discussed the incident to the press, saying that she "only aimed to verify my colleague was secure."
"I believe he had no intention to us danger, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I sought to make sure that she was fine. That was my immediate response," she stated.
