President Trump Invites Relatives of Injured Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Response
Mourners assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in the capital.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Government Changes
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event led the administration to halt asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to speak to his relatives.
Impact of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with honor, per the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” he addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
