Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
